Reflection by Chan Wai-chi
(Social Worker in Female Centre)
In more than a year of service, I have truly seen the importance of caring love and education.
Today's world is filled with materialism and self-centeredness. People try to get what they want
Some sisters asked me why they had to stay in the centre when some troublemakers were there.
When I saw the sisters, I saw myself. There were times I didn't want to pray or to read the Bible.
But people do not always think right. We do need discipline. I love the sisters: I can stay up late

After the typhoon
A student in Long Ke
Hong Kong, it was called York. I remembered that we just sustained little damage last typhoon,
but York was too strong, I was waken up by the big storm and torrential rain. We didn't close
the window of the house, storm and rain made the floor all wet and three brothers sleeping on
the floor were waken up and jumped into the beds. Then we closed all windows and fell to sleep,
I couldn't sleep well because the big noise of wind and I worried our centre would be ruined
by the fierce typhoon.

lying down on the ground. It moved the roof and the electricity room of a house and the tea-booth
of the vegetable garden. Fields were all inundated after a night, but we thanked the blessing of God
that our brothers and staff weren't harmed by the typhoon.
They were all wet and cooked two large woks of rice for us in spite of the wind and rain, thanks
for their lovely serving. Canned food was our main dishes for three meals that day.

working procedure of the centre had become normal. Brothers and co-workers united in spirit
and action and went all out to build up the home. All brothers were busy for cleaning up the
houses, broken trees and things in a jumble. We brought all inundated fields under cultivation
again and hoped that they would recover as soon as possible. There were about twenty broken
trees. We needed a long period to clean them up. Praying to God grant us energy.

through whatever means. Young people take up these thoughts and practices. They steal and rob;
if they get by, they think they are smart and lucky; if not, they think they are dumb. They lose their
sense of security. We need to give them love, acceptance, and respect; and also a set of principle
to live by. Otherwise, we are sending them off to a cage filled with sins and temptation where they
just follow the crowd.
They thought it's better to go out to the real world where the troublemakers would be punished
by law. This reminded me that we had to provide a just and loving environment for the girls.
My heart was filled with jealousy or pride. I realized that the sisters and I needed Jesus even more.
to talk to them; have a buffet with them; weep for them; but I can also discipline them when they
do wrong. This is all because my Heavenly Father disciplines me too.
A letter to the sisters

Christians. It's not enough to believe Jesus with our words. So I left the church and worked in
social service. In Wu Oi, I've come to know that life evangelism worked. Last June, many
sisters left and as I thought about it, I saw that I only brought Jesus in front of you but I didn't
bring you into Him through the teaching of the Bible so that you could stand firm in the Lord.
