He helped me through      Johnson Ngai (General Secretary)

One evening after dinner, my wife could not move her left hand. I wanted to take her to hospital
at once and told her not to panic. When we got to the hospital, she could not even move her left
foot. She had a stroke. That was a difficult moment for me: I needed to console her and pray
with her; I also needed to contact our doctor.

She did not have symptoms like dizziness or vomiting. But the doctor thought it was safer to
do a scan. A piece of 5cm blood clot was found in her brain. I thanked God for a good doctor
but at the same time, I was afraid. My wife meant the most to me and I turned to God.

It has been quite some time since then. God has kept me. My board members, co-workers
and brothers and sisters in the Lord (whether I know them or not) have prayed for us and visited
us. Much of my grief has been relieved. Who am I that God lavishes His grace on me! Even my
youngest daughter who seldom does housework is very careful to make her mom comfortable.
My oldest daughter has taken leave from her university and returned home to look after her mom.
My son, with his strong body, helps his mother to exercise or get up from bed. This has brought
much comfort to my wife and me. Our family has come closer at this critical time. The road of
recovery is long. We have ups and downs. But we believe that God cares for us. His grace is
enough. Please remember us in your prayer.

Unchangeable Love from Family      Chan Chung Man (Program Assistant)

The hot summer has gone and the cool autumn has come, there are many experiences in the
past four months and I would like to share with you.

A beautiful picture appeared on the family day. After family members had arrived at the
destination, brothers took care of their family members with umbrellas to Long Ke Centre very
carefully. It showed their love to their family members. Who say they are cool and heartless?
Surely not, I know that they need love and be loved. The family members enjoyed the gathering
very much and the scene was very touching, many of them moved to tears.

In the past, drugs controlled the lives of our brothers, it forced them treating nearby people
worse, and now they stood on the stage, shared experiences with God and sang hymns, it was
not easy for them, they needed great courage to finish each minor action. At last, brothers were
invited to say sorry to their family members, they moved to tears and brothers were also excited.
It was an inspiring scene.

The support of family members to brothers is very important, it makes me think of God's
unlimited tolerance to human in crime, I deeply realize God's love and hope our brothers can
continually grow up in His love.

Although there are many difficulties, we can work in one heart      Chung Wai Kit (Program Officer in Bliss Lodge)

My duty has shifted from Long Ke to Bliss Lodge since April for half year, a new lesson and
an adaptation were very challenging for me. I was grateful to God that He let me continually grow
up in spiritual life through the contact with teachers, bible teachers and social worker.

Different co-workers have different roles and duties, there are many difficulties in the staff
allocation of the work, but I know who is our leader, we are in one family in Lord. "so that
there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each
other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices
with it." (1 Co12:25-26 ) I have been serving and living with other co-workers for seven months,
I realize the attitudes of their services, the main theme of teaching is not the academic result, it
is to build up their lives. In the period of changing staff in Bliss Lodge, many brothers left halfway,
it's a great attack for us. Life cannot be changed and grow up quickly, it needs time to experience
spiritual training, the youngsters have a long way to grow up, they still need to be cared and
concerned after finishing the eighteen months training in Wu Oi. I pray to God to grant us sensitive
senses to know their needs, the daily life training in the centre can help them growing up healthy.

His power of creation      Kong Lai-kuen (Minister)

Recently, God has constantly given me a message of trusting Him. When I was working out
the year plan of the follow-up ministry and felt that I would be stuck by a lot of difficulties, "I
am the Lord of creation, you have to trust me," God told me.

It was 4 am, September 16, I was staying at the old church in Long Ke and was waken up
by the typhoon at night. I was very frightened and worrying the church would be blown down
by the wind. God said to me: "Do not be afraid, my peace rests in you."

The typhoon signal No.10 was hoisted later, and I saw trees were up-rooted by the strong
wind. We are just like the trees, looked good and strong, but are so weak inside. We could not
pretend to be strong as all the things will be revealed before God.

This experience has really taught me a good lesson and now I believe the real follow-up work
should be done from our hearts inside.

Women Ministry      Chan Wai-sze (Teacher)

A family camp was held between September 30 and November 1 and we all had a wonderful
time at the Lantau campsite. The focus of the camp was the "role-play" program. Through the
program, the sisters and their family members were given a chance to reflect and review their
lives.

After the program, we had a sharing time with the sisters and their families, and it helped improve
the communication between the parents and children.
